About Steven
I’m a residential builder with over 30 years of experience specializing in complex architectural framing systems, structural detailing, and precision forming.
Much of my career has been spent on high-end custom homes where precision matters and small mistakes carry real financial and scheduling consequences. From intricate roof systems and engineered framing components to architectural concrete foundations and precision formed structural elements, these are the types of projects that shaped my experience.
Over time, I’ve found that what often appears complicated on plans or on site usually comes down to clear principles — once someone takes the time to break them down properly.
That realization is what led to this advisory practice.
Why This Advisory Exists
I built this platform to provide clear, buildable guidance for builders and framers who want clarity before execution.
This isn’t abstract theory. It’s practical jobsite experience translated into structured review and actionable guidance.
Whether confirming a specific framing detail, reviewing a complex roof system, or navigating structural forming challenges, my goal is simple: help you understand the concept clearly so you can move forward with confidence.
Every consultation is personally reviewed and grounded in real field experience.
Background & Experience
I grew up in a family construction business, working alongside my dad and six brothers. From early on, I learned not just how to build homes, but how to build them carefully, practically, and with pride in the finished result.
My dad taught the hands-on skills.
My mom helped shape the work ethic and principles I still carry today.
Our work has focused primarily on high-end custom residential homes — first in the Vancouver, BC area and later throughout the Shuswap region, including lake homes, vacation properties, and architecturally detailed builds.
These projects often involved:
• Complex framing systems
• Engineered structural components
• Precision concrete forming
• Custom foundation layouts
• Architectural detailing requiring clear planning and disciplined execution
Good building ultimately comes down to experience, problem-solving, and helping others do better work.If I can help bring clarity to your next project, I’m glad to.
